Swift showed an interest in music from a young age, and quickly moved from roles in children's theatre and her first public appearance in front of the crowd of a thousand. Swift started writing songs in the teen years. She performed The Star-Spangled Banner for a Philadelphia 76ers game. Drawing inspiration from popular country artists like Shania Twain and the Dixie Chicks (now the Chicks) Swift crafted original material that reflected her experiences of being a tween and feeling alienated. Swift relocated from Pennsylvania along with her parents to Hendersonville, Tennessee when she was 13 years old to dedicate more time to reaching out to label representatives from the country genre.
